Founded on 10 October 1924, the Chinese Meteorological Society (CMS) is one of the earliest associations of natural science professionals in China, seeking to promote meteorological observation, research, and development. The CMS’s official journal—Acta Meteorologica Sinica (ACTA) started its first issue in July 1925 and its English Edition (ACTA-English) in September 1987. ACTA-English was published quarterly from 1988 to 2008, and became bimonthly in 2009. It has been included in the Web of Science of Thomson Reuters since Janurary 2007.
ACTA-English intends to promote the exchange of scientific innovation and thoughts between Chinese and foreign meteorologists. The journal aims to introduce the latest achievements and developments in the field of atmospheric sciences, especially in the following: pure and applied meteorology, climatology and climate change, marine meteorology, Tibetan meteorology, atmospheric physics and chemistry, cloud physics and weather modification, numerical weather prediction, data assimilation, atmospheric sounding and remote sensing, atmospheric environment and air pollution, radar and satellite meteorology, agricultural and forest meteorology, and so on.
ACTA-English publishes original findings and advances in meteorological research undertaken both in China and worldwide. It accepts direct English submissions. The journal has a latest impact factor of 2.178 and a five-year impact factor of 2.242, according to the Journal Citation Report (JCR) released in 2021. Starting with the 2014 volume (Vol. 28), ACTA-English was renamed as Journal of Meteorological Research (JMR). JMR retains all the great history of ACTA and remains covered in Web of Science. A highly international Editorial Board has been established to ensure the publication quality. The annual citation and international downloads (via SpringerLink) of ACTA-English/JMR keep rising steadily.
Journal of Meteorological Research features with
1) rapid publication of the foremost research output in atmospheric sciences,
2) special issues presenting cutting-edge research, and
3) a professional and supportive editorial office.
Contributions from scientists all over the world are warmly welcome.
