Abstract
This is the first visible(0.55-1.05μm)image transmitted from the FY-2B geostationary meteorological satellite(see below figure)and it was received by the National Satellite Meteorological Center at 1331 BT(Beijing Time)on July 6,2000.From the image it can be seen that a frontal cloud system is covering an extensive area of Lake Baikal in Russia,west Mongolia and the eastern part of Tibetan Plateau in China.Another cyclone cloud system is influencing China's Northeast,North,Huanghuai area,and the eastern part of Northwest area.
