Abstract
A regional sea surface temperature(SST)computation software system is described in this paper.Functionally, there are five components that make up the total operating system. These components are SST observation generation, analyzed SST field generation, conventional SST measurement access, products verification and SST software system maintenance. The software system has been installed in the IBM 4361 computer system and provides oceanographic products from AVHRR data of TIROS-N series satellites broadcasted directly by satellites. In order to check the accuracy of the products, the retrievals from the software system using the NOAA-7 and NOAA-9 AVHRR data are compared with simultaneous conventional SST measurements. The results from these comparisons show that the RMS deviation is about 1.0℃ or less.
